Mr Wong Seremban Beef Noodle

when it 1st started some years ago at marine parade hawker centre was the owner mr wong's 1 man show. i was an early patron. what i ordered was beef soup w rice. he didnt hv rice so he went to the neighbour's stall to get rice. he'll personally bring you your order wherever you seated. it's nice both the food n service. BUT tat's history!
in recent years esp due to good press reports n reviews, business improved greatly n long Q! worst still no more deliver to you, Self-Service! mr wong employed a few staff. he's hardly there.
i no longer keen over his food. the taste were gone! last sun i'd mixed beef noodle dried. $4.50 was collected 1st. the famous sauce turned out 2b just something black n saltish! the noodle flat. beef tasteless! the soup was still ok lah but 1/2 bowl only! if mr wong was there, i'll surely highlight to him. he remembers me as the early patron.
U might wonder y there isnt photo in tis article! the Cow is gone, where got photo!

Peking Duck S'pore VS Peking

a big signet along ubi rd "Peking Duck $15.00" attracted many including my family member. it's actually a $ cheaper some yrs ago. my 1st remark tat time was "tis Peking Duck!" only take away fm a shop at ubi so no 1 will cut its skin 4u. till now to me it's jus Roast Duck! sometimes quite nice, sometimes horrid. today decide to exam it. ate at the original Peking Duck shop in Peking in '09. oso eaten Peking Duck fm diff local restaurants many times. so duck cant fool me.

2b fair to tis ubi Peking Duck, i decided to try all major parts including d Head! today they r lucky. skin quite QQ. whole big duck evenly cut up. meat quite tender. chilli sauce hot but Prawn Paste too strong! duck sauce too oily. extra pkt of duck sauce will cost 50cts!!! silly!!!

if u want cheap roast duck u can consider tis but FORGET abt Peking Duck! i'm sober still after pairing it with Tsingtao Beer. lets talk tis beer now. when it 1st arrived here long ago, there'll were Beer n Stout. shortly the stout stopped it stay. a real pity! the beer originated fm Qingdao China was very Good! now not only its bottle was changed, its colour n contents were diff! the original beer was lighter in all aspects but tis is darker. thicker but bitter. i let a couple tried. they r v gd with liquor tasting. the girl felt Eeeeeeee! the guy said Disgusting! well for less than $5 to drain off the heat fm the duck, guess ok lah!

Moon Cake 11 Wing Wah

mooncake is a big thing in the mid-autumn festival. many sellers depend on this once in a yr event to rig in big bucks! my love for mooncake started in the 60s which u can read abt in MoonCake of www.mastercheong.blogspot.com. like it so much that i can eat good ones 1 box a day!

from this yr onwards i'll do a serious review of whatever mooncakes i come across. to kick off the series, i've on hand the 60 something yrs old HK Wing Wah Mooncake. WW in short.

it's quite typical of HK style to pack their stuff in very nice metal box. WW shld b d 1st 1 to intro White Lotus paste here. tested its mini type. skin is very thin or fine which's an art. prefer the paste to be sweeter. egg yolk rather dried lacked freshness or what in cantonese called 'oil water'. amazed by its Ingredients n Nutrition information labels which many others dont disclose.

Red Grouper Turns Grey

my order was Red Grouper. only the fins of the above were reddish! the restaurant manager explained that nowadays most of the Red Groupers are from Fish Farm & not from the Open Sea. that's why the colour differents somehow! on that note, recall that same issue with fish farm sea bass & sea sea bass. so the next time if your order looks strange, pse ask. dun b surprise that some eggs r not d usual egg shape! city chick & kampong chick lah then geylang hah!

Wo Peng Restaurant & Cuisine

some yrs ago had cny reunion dinner at chinatown furama hotel's ch rest'. exec ch chef was hk platinum master chef tam kwok fai. v impressed by d crispy skin of d roast chick wich's better den bejing duck. its meat melts in ur mth! even d next day, warmed up by microwave oven, effect same! drank all gravy of d steamed fish! next day my mum ate up all d remaining fired glutinous rice for bkfast! till now cant 4get his good food.

shortly heard tat he left not only furama but spore too. some yrs later, my dear fr stanley invited me to wo peng rest' 476 & 478 Macpherson Rd. for lunch. surprisingly, d chef owner was master chef tam kwok fai! assisted by a v experienced rest'manager may chai. of course old friends had good chat. fm den on we became reg there. he started w 476 den later 478.

in addition to d glutinous rice, the following dishes r highly recommended: any soup of d day. roast chicken n duck. not in pic: tong bo meat w pumpkin. fired fish skin. mixed veg claypot.

not in d std menu r daily exotic food which depend on what's available. worth trying eg beef or deer meat etc. must try d glutinous tea n brown rice tea.

in less den 3 yrs they opened another branch. wo peng cuisine at 03-01/02 furama hotel chinatown!

over here fusion dim sum r served w new age desserts. very worth trying! some1 commented tat 1/2 hr wait for d egg tart was deserving!

every now n then they cook up new dishes. if u r looking for a pl to pamper ur total self, family, clients n friends, guess here is it! reservation highly recommended: wo peng macpherson, ph 67479892. wo peng furama, ph 65332282.

smiling personalised svc in both outlets. decor n ambience pleasing. parking no issue.

master tam was d 1st 1 to intro claypot treasure (poon choy) to spore. his version of raw fish salad (yu sheng) is no. 1. with $ n pre-order, he's able to wok up ur dream dish!
